Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Log in to the CRS. Your initial login credentials were emailed to you on July 10, 2026 with the subject "Invitation to request SCinet connections." If you didn't receive this email or don't know your organization's contact, reach out to the SCinet Helpdesk at support@scinet.supercomputing.org or visit Booth 4029.
  2. Choose your connection type. SCinet offers four connection types. Select the one that fits your booth's needs:
    • 10 Gbps — $2,500. Standard connection for most booths. Requires 10GBase-LR optics.
    • 100 Gbps — $4,000. For high-bandwidth demos. Requires 100GBase-LR4 optics and coordination with SCinet.
    • 400 Gbps — $5,000. For very high-bandwidth use cases. Requires 400GBase-LR4 optics and coordination with SCinet.
    • Dark Fiber — $5,000 per end. A dedicated fiber path between two locations. Requires direct coordination with SCinet.
    All connections are delivered over singlemode fiber with duplex LC plugs. SCinet does not provide Cat 5/6 copper cable.
  3. Decide whether to add a "Plug and Play" Connection Kit. For 10 Gbps connections, you can add a SCinet-provided "Plug and Play" Connection Kit including an 8-port switch with a compatible 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic for $160. This equipment is yours to keep. If you have a 1 Gbps switch from a previous year, SCinet offers a free one-time exchange — bring it to Booth 4029.
  4. Place your request. Click Place New Connection Request from your dashboard. Select your service type, optionally add the switch and optic, mark the physical location of the connection within your booth on the floor plan, and describe how you plan to use the connection. You can edit or cancel your request after submitting it.
  5. Order before the Early Bird deadline. Connections ordered by October 2, 2026 receive Early Bird pricing. After that date, all connections increase by $2,000. The CRS closes on October 16, 2026 — no new connection Requests accepted. The last day to cancel without charge is October 30, 2026.
  6. Await approval and invoicing. All requests are reviewed by SCinet. After approval, billing is handled by the SC26 Exhibits Management Company, Hall-Erickson. Invoices are issued starting August 28, 2026. For billing questions, contact Hall-Erickson at sc@heiexpo.com or 630-434-7779.

The SCinet Connection Request System (CRS) is the primary way for exhibitors to share their network connection needs with SCinet. The CRS is intended to accumulate requests for standard network connections, such as 10/100/400 Gigabit Ethernet. The SCinet CRS is access controlled to prevent unauthorized connections/charges. The SC26 Exhibits Management Company provides SCinet with a list of contacts for exhibitor organizations. These initial contacts received an email with a subject line of "Invitation to request SCinet connections" on Jul 10, 2026. That email contains login and password information for the CRS. The initial exhibitor contacts can then create additional contacts within the CRS if needed. If you do not know the contact for your exhibitor/organization, please contact the SCinet Helpdesk (Booth 4029) by sending email to support@scinet.supercomputing.org

For more information, see this guide. The SCinet network service offerings at SC26 include:
  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet:10 Gigabit Ethernet (10,000 Mbps) connection to the SCinet IP network. This connection is delivered over singlemode fiber and requires 10GBase-LR optics.
  • 100 Gigabit Ethernet:100 Gigabit Ethernet (100,000 Mbps) connection to the SCinet IP network. This connection is delivered over singlemode fiber and requires 100GBase-LR4 optics.
  • 400 Gigabit Ethernet:400 Gigabit Ethernet (400,000 Mbps) connection to the SCinet IP network. This connection is delivered over singlemode fiber and requires 400GBase-LR4 optics.
  • Dark Fiber:singlemode fiber laid between two locations that can support non-supported speeds (e.g. 800 Gbps). This is an atypical request. In the event that a routed IP connection between booths is not sufficient, a dark fiber path can be built between booths. The exhibitors must coordinate and provide the equipment at either end of the fiber. Dark fiber drops may be requested for a private connection between two exhibitor booths. You may request dark fiber from a booth to a SCinet location (e.g. the NOC, Booth 3034) with the understanding that direct coordination with SCinet will be necessary. In this case you will only be charged for the connection to your booth and not to the SCinet location.
SCinet reserves the right to review any network requests ordered through the CRS. In particular, exhibitors who wish to order connections geared toward network-intensive research or demonstrations (e.g. those of 100Gbps or higher, or dark fiber connections), are strongly encouraged to first contact SCinet to discuss their needs and ensure the best possible support for their use case.

You may be unsure of which type of network connection to order for your booth. If you are simply looking for a standard connection to the Internet, then most likely a 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10,000 Mbps) connection with the default settings will suit your needs.

If you need a special type of connection for a demo, please consult with the technical contact of your booth to determine the details of your connection. SCinet offers the following general types of network connections:

  • Standard Ethernet connections (e.g. 10 Gigabit Ethernet) are the most common. They provide connectivity to the Internet and research networks. The higher speeds (e.g. 100 Gigabit ethernet, 400 Gigabit ethernet) typically require specialized network hardware and will require a conversation with SCinet to understand your equipment and support needs.
  • Dark fiberconnections are singlemode fiber from your booth to another location. These can be used to build a private connection between exhibitors. Choosing this will require a conversation with SCinet to construct a dedicated path.

All SCinet network connections are delivered over a fiber optic cable:
  • 10, 100, and 400 Gigabit Ethernet: singlemode fiber
  • Dark fiber: singlemode fiber
In order to connect properly, your equipment will need appropriate connectors and optics type.

SCinet network services are not available over Category 5/6 copper cable, nor does SCinet sell, provide, or install Cat 5/6 cable in booths.

Fiber connectors vary with connection type. If conversion to another connector type is necessary to match exhibitor's equipment, that conversion is the exhibitor's responsibility.
  • 10, 100, and 400 Gigabit Ethernet: duplex LC plugs
  • Dark fiber: duplex LC plugs

You will need to provide an Ethernet switch for your booth to connect the SCinet fiber and distribute the network around your booth, most likely via Cat5/Cat6 copper cable. SCinet network services are not available over Category 5/6 copper cable, nor does SCinet sell, provide, or install Cat 5/6 cable in booths. Please read the sections on connections, cables, and connectors and consult with the technical contact for your booth as to your equipment needs. For 10 Gigabit connections only, there is an option to purchase a SCinet-provided "Plug and Play" Connection Kit ($160) when making your booth connection request. This option includes an 8-port 10/100/1000 copper + 1 SFP+ uplink switch with a 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic to uplink to SCinet. The purchased connection kit may be picked up at the SCinet helpdesk (Booth 4029) with a valid invoice during the show. This equipment is yours to keep, and does not need to be returned. If you have switches used from previous years for 1 Gigabit connections to your booth, verify that they can work with an 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic; it may be the case that you will need a new switch that is compatible. SCinet is offering a one-time exchange of previously purchased switches that supported 1 Gigabit connections via SFP-LX optics - no matter which year you purchased it from us. Please bring your switch to the SCinet helpdesk (Booth 4029) and receive a free exchange to a 10 Gigabit switch with a 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic. Exchange is required as proof of purchase to receive a new connection kit.

If you have switches used from previous years for 1 Gigabit connections to your booth, verify that they can work with an 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic; it may be the case that you will need a new switch that is compatible. SCinet is offering a 1-time exchange of previously purchased switches that supported 1 Gigabit connections via SFP-LX optics - no matter which year you purchased it from us. Please bring your switch to the SCinet helpdesk (Booth 4029) and receive a free exchange to a 10 Gigabit switch with a 10GBase-LR SFP+ optic. Exchange is required as proof of purchase to receive a new switch and optic.

When you place your order, you will be given a standard set of IP allocations: for IPv4 connectivity, you will receive a network of length /27 (up to 30 usable addresses), and for IPv6 connectivity, you will be provided one standard /64 subnet. These addresses are considered part of your order. For booths that require a larger IPv4 subnet, or for any additional questions, please contact support@scinet.supercomputing.org.

There is a per connection fee for each SCinet network connection. The fee varies based upon the connection type. The following prices apply if ordered during the "Early Bird" discount window which ends Oct 2, 2026.

  • 10 Gigabit Ethernet:$2500
  • 100 Gigabit Ethernet:$4000
  • 400 Gigabit Ethernet:$5000
  • Dark fiber to SCinet:$5000

In the case of requests for dark fiber to another exhibitor booth, both booths will be charged $5000 for the connection (i.e., one charge for each end of the connection).

Note that connections ordered after the Oct 2, 2026 "Early Bird" discount window will increase by $2000. No new connections will be accepted after October 16, 2026.

Yes, NRE and XNet participants must order, and pay for, booth network connections using the CRS system if this is required for their demonstration. A discount of 100% will be applied to all network connections associated with approved NRE or XNet demos at the time of invoicing. This discount applies to network connections only, and does not apply to other expenses to support a both such as space, furnishings, electrical power, or shipping costs. Questions regarding these discounts can be sent to nre-leads@scinet.supercomputing.org.

The free wireless service at SC26 is a best effort network. If you are running demonstrations in your booth that require high availability network access, we advise you to order a wired network connection through the CRS. If your organization will not need wired connectivity at SC26, you may indicate this to SCinet by opting out. By opting out of the SCinet CRS, you will no longer receive emails from SCinet about ordering network services. Once an exhibitor has opted out, they may not use the CRS to request network connectivity. If the exhibitor would then like to change their opt-out decision, then they can go back to the CRS interface and select the 'Opt-Out' button.

Billing will be handled through the SC26 Exhibits Management Company, Hall-Erickson. After Aug 28, 2026, SCinet will transmit billing data to Hall-Erickson, which will then issue invoices to each exhibitor. The last date to cancel a connection request without payment is Oct 30, 2026.

  • Jul 10, 2026 - CRS Opens and Early Bird Pricing Applies
  • Aug 28, 2026 - Invoicing will begin with data sent to Hall-Erickson on a regular basis.
  • Oct 2, 2026 - Early Bird Pricing Ends and Connection Fee Increases by $2,000 per Connection
  • Oct 16, 2026 - CRS Closes and No New Connection Requests Accepted
  • Oct 30, 2026 - Final Date for Connection Request Changes or to Cancel Receiving a Full Refund

SCinet offers "Early Bird" pricing prior to Oct 2, 2026. After this date, the prices for all connections increase by $2000.

The SC26 Exhibits Management Company provides SCinet with a list of contacts for exhibitor organizations. Each contact received an email with a username and password and instructions for logging in to the CRS. Other points of contact for the exhibitor booth may be added by visiting the

When adding a contact for a booth, two optional permissions are available: one for managing contacts and one for managing connections. If neither is selected, then the contact will be able to view all the information for the booth on the CRS, but not make any changes. Note that if the contact is given permission to modify contacts, then he/she implicitly has the capability to add permissions to himself for managing connections.

Create a CRS point of contact for this person. Ensure that the 'Manage Connections' permission is set for this new contact. Additional instructions can be found at points of contact.
